DL TRIX Forex Indicator (MT4)

About the DL-TRIX Indicator

DL-TRIX is a powerful trend and momentum indicator for MT4 based on the triple exponential smoothing of price changes.

It reveals underlying cycles and filters noise better than simple oscillators.

The indicator detects divergence, crossover signals, and provides enhanced trend confirmation.

For traders aiming to align entries with medium-term momentum shifts, DL-TRIX offers clarity with minimal lag.

It’s built for those who want cleaner signals and prefer trading with the trend, not against it.

How To Trade Using This Indicator

Entry Rules

Look for the TRIX line crossing above the signal line for long entries, and below for shorts.

Confirm trend direction (e.g., price above MA for longs, below for shorts).

If divergence is present (price making new highs/lows not echoed by TRIX), it adds strength to the signal.

Buy & Sell

  • Buy: When TRIX crosses above the signal line, trend filter positive, optionally divergence from price, enter long at close of confirmation candle.
  • Sell: When TRIX crosses below the signal line, trend filter negative, optionally divergence, enter short after confirmation candle.

Stop Loss and Take Profit

  • Place a stop loss a few pips below the recent swing low (for long) or above the swing high (for short).
  • Alternatively, use the ATR multiple to set the stop.
  • To take profit, aim for prior resistance or support levels, fib levels, or maintain a risk-to-reward ratio of 1:2 or better.
  • Use a trailing stop when the trade moves in your favor to lock gains.

The ADX DeMarker DL TRIX MT4 Strategy

This strategy combines the ADX with DeMarker Indicator with the DL TRIX Indicator to create a multi-layered and highly reliable trading system.

This system is effective on any currency pair and is best suited for time frames from M5 and above.

Buy Entry Rules

  • The ADX with Demarker signals a buy trade (green arrow)
  • The DL TRIX indicator’s main line crosses above its signal line, giving a final buy signal.
  • Stop Loss: Place it below the recent swing low.
  • Take Profit: Exit when the DL TRIX main line crosses back below its signal line.

Sell Entry Rules

  • The ADX with Demarker signals a sell trade (red arrow)
  • The DL TRIX indicator’s main line crosses below its signal line, giving a sell signal.
  • Stop Loss: Place it below the recent swing high.
  • Take Profit: Exit when the DL TRIX main line crosses back above its signal line.

Advantages

  • High-Quality Entries: This system uses a two-step confirmation process to ensure that trades are placed in the direction of a strong trend and at an optimal entry point.
  • Objectivity: All entry and exit rules are based on clear indicator readings, reducing the need for subjective analysis and emotional decision-making.

Drawbacks

  • Signal Lag: With multiple indicators for confirmation, there can be a delay in receiving a signal.
  • Complex for Beginners: Juggling two different indicators with specific rules can be challenging for new traders and may require significant practice.

FAQ

1. Does TRIX lag often, and how bad is it?

TRIX uses triple exponential smoothing, which introduces some lag compared to simple oscillators.

However, by combining it with divergence detection or trend filters, you can reduce bad signals.

Waiting for the crossover after the candle closes helps avoid premature entries.

2. Can DL-TRIX be used for both trend following and reversal trading?

Yes — crossover signals are useful for trend-following, while divergence gives reversal clues.

Often, the best setups combine both: divergence gives early warning, then crossover confirms direction.

3. How should one adjust strategy in volatile or range-bound markets?

In volatile markets, increase smoothing or set stricter thresholds for divergence and crossover confirmation.

In range-bound markets, be very careful: avoid trading crossovers alone. Favor divergence + price action near extremes or support/resistance zones.

Summary

DL-TRIX is a strong tool for combining trend-following and reversal signals.

The best strategy: only trade in the direction of the trend (use MA200 or a similar filter).

Look for divergence or crossover in favorable zones, wait for candle close for confirmation, set SL beyond swing extreme, aim for R:R of at least 1:2, and optionally trail profits.

Using these rules across multiple timeframes improves accuracy and reduces noise.
